
ACES Lab Students Receive Two Awards at IEEE CASE 2026
We are delighted to share that two students from the ACES Lab earned top honors at the IEEE CASE 2026 Safety-Critical Robotics Workshop in Shenyang, China. Zuyi Guo (M.S., Fall 2026) and Xianjie Dai (Ph.D., Fall 2026), together with their collaborators, received both the Best Poster Award and the Best Presentation Award.
Zuyi’s research centers on risk perception and safety-critical decision-making for autonomous driving, including memory-based mechanisms that let a system keep improving its safety over time. Xianjie works on safe robot interaction driven by vision-language-action models, with a focus on closing the loop between a robot’s planning and its execution. Both students are supervised by Prof. Heye Huang, whose group also received a CVPR 2026 Best Paper Award earlier this year.
