TUPA Joins National R&D Project on End-to-End Autonomous Driving

August 2026 Ministry of SMEs and Startups

We are pleased to announce that TUPA has joined a new national R&D project on end-to-end autonomous driving, selected for funding by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The project runs from 2026 to 2030 with a total budget of KRW 5 billion.

The consortium is led by VUERON Technology, with TUPA at KAIST joining as a key research partner. The work builds a vehicle-integrated driving system around a world foundation model, then tests it on real roads: pilots in three Korean cities first, then overseas validation, reaching driving tests across seven cities in three countries by the final year.

Project at a glance

  • Project – Development and Global Real-World Validation of World Foundation Model-Based End-to-End Autonomous Driving Technology
  • Funding body – Ministry of SMEs and Startups
  • Period and budget – 2026 to 2030, KRW 5 billion
  • Consortium lead – VUERON Technology
  • KAIST PI – Prof. Inhi Kim (TUPA)
  • TUPA’s role – global validation data analysis, generalization and robustness evaluation, safety-critical failure analysis, and technical assessment to support commercialization

Congratulations to Prof. Inhi Kim and the TUPA team! We look forward to working with VUERON Technology and the consortium partners over the next five years.
