Prof. Tiantian Chen Leads KAIST’s Part in the Korea-Czech DOVE Project
Prof. Tiantian (Nicole) Chen of the HFACTS Lab is leading KAIST’s participation in the DOVE project, an international joint R&D effort between Korea and the Czech Republic. The project runs from July 2026 through December 2029.
DOVE develops a detachable on-board device that lets operators remotely run several vehicles at once, along with technologies that make that operation safer. BYDA leads the consortium, and Czech institutions take part as international partners. The project is funded under the Smart Car sub-program of MOTIR’s Automotive Industry Technology Development Program and administered by KEIT.
At KAIST, the focus is AI-assisted remote support for safer factory mobility: helping remote operators assist vehicles in complex factory environments. The work covers traffic risk monitoring, AI understanding of complex scenes, and route guidance that operators review and approve, followed by testing with operators in realistic factory conditions. The aim is safer vehicle operations with human oversight.
